Sons of the American Legion Mission

Our Mission

The Sons of the American Legion (SAL) mission is to strengthen the American Legion’s four pillars—Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation, National Security, Americanism, and Children & Youth. Founded in 1932, the SAL actively supports veterans, their families, and communities through fundraising, volunteer work at VA hospitals, and the promotion of patriotism. Key details of the SAL mission include:

Supporting Veterans: Providing assistance and raising funds for VA homes and hospitals, ensuring robust veteran support.

Child Welfare: Supporting children and youth projects, with over $6.9 million raised for the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation since 1988.

Patriotism & Citizenship: Fostering Americanism, defending the U.S. Constitution, and promoting community service.

Legion Family Support: Serving as a dedicated branch within the American Legion family, enhancing membership connections.

Members of the SAL are male descendants of veterans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces, and you can find a Sons of the American Legion post near you to get involved.

Please contact the squadron commander or adjutant for including your connections.
