Suggs Creek Bridge on Stuarts Ferry Pike

We’ve had an inquiry on the website from a Mr. Jeff Walker. It reads:

“I found a newspaper article at the Mount Juliet library that shows where the bridge that was just taken down was dedicated to William Edsel Wright, who was killed in action 1945 on Iwo Jima. The American Legion helped dedicate the bridge with his mother present and I am sponsoring a petition to have the new bridge dedicated to the same person. Just curious if the American Legion would like to be involved in attempting to rededicate it to William Wright again.”

According to HonorStates.org PFC Wright was killed in a “non combat accident”. That’s not terribly important but what is is that he gave his life for our country and our freedom. He answered the call, he showed up to serve before self. That willingness is the foundation everything else is built on. We salute him and all of our service members. They put it all on the line, and we thank you all deeply for that.
