August 2020 Newsletter

FROM THE COMMANDER:

Fellow Legionnaires,

Greetings and hope this finds you and your families continuing to be healthy and doing well in the midst of the current COVID-19 Pandemic. The numbers in Tennessee keep creeping higher and it is a scary time and we all must take appropriate precautions. Therefore I have consulted with the Executive Committee on 4 August. I asked and it was unanimously agreed upon to cancel our 11 August meeting. There remains nothing urgent on the agenda that could not wait until our September meeting.

Your Executive Committee met on 4 July, via a Zoom internet conference and revised an agenda for our next regularly scheduled meeting. As cited above, this month’s meeting is cancelled. We continue exploring options for when we can get together and are soliciting donations to keep us in a position to support next years’ ball teams, Boys and Girls State, the Oratorical, Scouts, veterans and their families in need, etc. Our only income, so far for this year is the Annual Flag Event. We still plan on holding the September Picnic at Charlie Daniels Park. Our plans for Christmas Dinner continue as I work with the Rutland Place Catering Staff. We have until two weeks prior to make a final decision or look at other options…

Fellow Legionnaires,

Greetings and hope this finds you and your families healthy and doing well in the midst of the current COVID-19 Pandemic. The numbers in Tennessee keep creeping higher and it is a scary time and we all must take appropriate precautions.  Therefore I have consulted with the Executive Committee on 11 July. I asked and it was unanimously agreed upon to cancel our 14 July meeting.

There was nothing on the agenda that could not wait until our next August meetings. In order to protect our families and fellow members, we all must listen to our government leaders and keep up with social distancing, wearing of masks while in the public and wash our hands at every available opportunity and use hand sanitizer…

May 2020 Newsletter

I hope you are all well and surviving the Stay-at-home conditions.

We have a busy May ahead of us. We will be able to hold a Post meeting at Charlie Daniels Park on May 12 at 6 pm (please note the time change for this meeting). We will practice social distancing and ask everyone to wear a mask to protect your fellow Legionnaires. Our Officers for the upcoming year will be installed at this meeting.

We will also hold our Flag event, with a few changes. The event will be May 21-25 and will be at Jones Family Park on MJ Rd. The intent of the event will be to uplift the community in these trying times, instead of raising funds this year. More information will be provided. This is my last article as Commander of Post 281. It has been both a good and challenging year.

I sincerely appreciate all of the members of our Post and Post family. I thank the Officers, Appointees, Committees, and volunteers for their hard work. It is my honor to serve in Post 281.

Commander
